How to make button loops

I was making an evening gown and ended up making the button loops from scratch, that is, using the same fabric I was using for the main parts of the dress. 

Eyelet pliers

I have used 2 mm eyelets in doll shoes, but never the bigger ones. Eyelet pliers are not expensive, so now I've got them for attaching 4 mm eyelets.

Various projects

I have posted several videos after the last one I added here. Some of them are about taking apart leather jackets I bought from a charity shop closeout sale for very cheap. You can find them on my YouTube channel, so I'm not adding them all here, but here is the first thing I made using those jackets.

I also made something else out of leather, but this wasn't recycled leather, just some very old (some of them 20 years old) pieces.

Using a stopwatch app, future plans, recycling leather

I wanted to know how long it really takes to convert a t-shirt to a long-sleeved one, so I downloaded a stopwatch app and set to find out.

Then I copied several patterns at once as I knew I wanted to make these at some point.

Buying new leather is not something I like to do, so second hand stores are a great source of materials. I got a great deal on some used leather jackets.

How long does it take to sew a shirt

I made more shirts using the same pattern I used for the pink t-shirt. These have long sleeves as I modified the pattern. Mainly I was curious about the time it takes to sew one of these shirts. In this first video, I'm sewing the shirt in real time, without edits.

And in the second one, I used a timer to get the total time from intact t-shirt to a ready made altered shirt.

Making a backpack

This video is in two parts as it took quite a long time to explain everything. Making a backpack is not that difficult, but it is time consuming and involves many steps.

Making the neckline of the yellow bodice

In this video, I'm showing how to alter a dress pattern to make the notched neckline of the yellow bodice shown in an earlier video. You need to know how to make a dress with a lining, because I'm only showing the changes needed for the pattern and what needs to be done differently when sewing the dress.

Winter coat using the McCall's pattern M7848

I finished a winter coat that had been in progress since the fall break. First, here's a video about making an inside pocket for it. 

After that, it was time to sew the lining in place. 

The dress prototype & some school projects

The secret isn't a secret anymore

The project I was working on at school in October-November was confidential, so I couldn't talk about it. Now the games are over and the mascots have been seen on TV and in the arena, so the secret is no longer a secret.

There will be a longer video at some point, probably during the Christmas break, as I'm going to tell how I made the mascot heads, but here's a short explanation of what was going on.

Practicing with waffle fabric

I bought a piece of pink waffle fabric and got a book from the library to practice some designs.

I got a Burda magazine on loan for a weekend to copy some patterns I wanted to have for making the clothes later.

An old t-shirt was unusable, because the back was too badly worn, so the picture got a new life in the back of a vest.

You may recognize some of the fabrics I'm using for this project. I wanted to use all the little pieces of fabric left over from the earlier school projects, so I came up with this idea.

Buttonholes and buttons for the vest

The last part of the vest was sewing buttonholes and buttons. I managed to find suitable buttons among the ones I've bought at the recycling center.
